Microsoft sends out invites for MWC 2019. The event will be hosted by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, technical fellow Alex Kipman, and Microsoft CVP Julia White.

MWC (Mobile World Congress) is an event for smartphones and for the Smartphone OEMs. We all know that Microsoft has missed the Smartphone boat. The company has never gone back to this particular event after that. It no longer sells Windows Phones neither it has improved its mobile OS. So, why the company is returning to MWC?

As per the invite, the event will be hosted by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, technical fellow Alex Kipman, and Microsoft CVP Julia White. The presence of the CEO screams magnitude of this event.

What major event this can be? The answer is in name of the hosts. Alex Kipman. He is the mastermind behind Hololens and if will be present then we will hear some major announcements for Hololens V2 for sure.

What do we know about Hololens V2:

  • Improved Holographic Processing Unit (HPU)
  • Enhanced AI capabilities
  • Improved Depth Camera
  • Powered by Snapdragon 850

Or, it can be completely different. Hence it is a mobile-centric event, we may see the now infamous Surface phone. But then again, Panos Paney will not be there. So, who knows.

The press conference will be held on February 24. Keep an eye on the site. It will be interesting to cover the event live.
