Just like with Chromecast, we intend to support AirPlay on any platform. There is no release date yet at all. We would like it to be part of VLC 4, which is the next major release we are currently working on. We will let you know in advance once we define a date.

Apart from that, the company has hit a major milestone in terms of downloads. The open-source video player app has crossed 3 Billion downloads at CES 2019.

Our Take:

This is very good news for us, the consumers. A company that can add all these awesome features without inserting any kind of adware to the app is praiseworthy. Did I mention the app is free and open source.
